In this reserch project, I have explored my own neighbourhood of Pointe St-Charles, located near the downtown core of Montreal. Being fairly new to the neighbourhood, and with Pointe St-Charles being so complex in terms of history, community identity and space, I needed a central theme for my research. This is where the issue of the proposed move of the Casino to Pointe St-Charles came in. My goal was not to study the struggle against this project in isolation, but instead to use it as a window into the complexity of Pointe St-Charles.
