Bilan de la 6e semaine contre l'apartheid israélien
[English version below] Cher partisans, chères partisanes, Au nom de la Comité d'organisateurs de la Semaine contre l'apartheid israélien (SAI), on aimerait remercier tous ceux et celles qui ont assisté ou soutenu la SAI 2010. Cette année, la sixième édition de la Semaine était un grand succès! Les conférenciers et conférencières de la SAI ont touché plusieurs thèmes à travers la semaine, tels que les succès courant de la campagne de Boycott, désinvestissement et sanctions (BDS) contre l’apartheid israélien, le mythe de la démocratie pour les palestiniens vivant en Israël même, la situation dans les territoires occupés, le soutien des homosexuels et amérindiens pour la lutte des palestiniens et les liens entre le Canada et l’apartheid israélien. Ceux qui ont assisté aux conférences ont également été instruit sur la nature des politiques israéliennes et leurs similarités avec l’apartheid Sud africain par des militants qui ont directement lutté contre l’apartheid en Afrique du sud. Malgré les condamnations honteuses et hypocrites du gouvernement d’Ontario et certains politiciens fédéraux, la SAI prend de l’ampleur à Montréal. Cette année marque la première année où des évènements SAI ont eu lieu à l’Université de Québec à Montréal (UQAM) grâce au travail remarquable de la Coalition pour la justice en Palestine-UQAM (CJP-UQAM). Chaque année, de nouvelles et ferventes personnes assistent aux évènements SAI et plusieurs associations pour la justice sociale offrent leur endossement. Finalement, la Semaine a clos avec un concert exaltant au Club Lambi mettant en vedette la talentueuse artiste hip-hop Abeer de la Palestine, et plusieurs autres artistes exceptionnels venant de Montréal et de New York. Il est évident que la SAI ne pouvait être possible sans le soutien important des associations suivantes : Simone de Beauvoir Institute for Women's Studies à Concordia, College and University Workers United, Syndicat des travailleurs et travailleuses des postes, Les Soeurs Auxiliatrices, la Coalition pour la justice et paix en Palestine, La Pointe Libertaire, l'Union Communiste Libertaire, et plusieurs autres donateurs individuels. This year's week, the 6th annual edition, was a huge success! Panelists and presenters at IAW touched on many important themes throughout the week, such as recent successes in the Boycott Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign, the myth of democracy for Palestinians living inside Israel, the situation in the Occupied Territories, queer support for Palestine, aboriginal support for the Palestinian struggle, and Canada's links to Despite the shameful and hypocritical condemnations from the Ontario government and certain federal politicians, IAW is growing steadily in Montreal. 2010 marked the first year that IAW events were held at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), thanks to the hard work of the Coalition pour la justice en Palestine-UQAM (CJP-UQAM). Every year, new and eager people are attending IAW events, and many different social justice organizations are offering their endorsements. Finally, the week ended with a rousing concert at Club Lambi, featuring the talented hip-hop artist Abeer from Palestine, and many other wonderful performers from Montreal and New York City.
