Le Festival de l'Anarchie prendra place au moi de mai, avec des événements reliés à l'anarchisme, dans plusieurs lieux publics de Montréal. Le Festival de l’anarchie, dans le cadre du Salon du livre anarchiste de Montréal (29-30 mai) est l'un des plus importants événements du genre en Amérique du Nord.
The entire month of May in Montreal is part of the Festival of Anarchy, with diverse anarchist-themed events occurring at different venues all over the island of Montreal. The Festival of Anarchy is organized as part of the Montreal Anarchist Bookfair (May 29-30).

Cinquième Festival International de théâtre anarchiste de Montréal

Pour sa cinquième édition, le Festival International de Théâtre Anarchiste de Montréal (FITAM) présente deux nuits de théâtres engagés en français et en anglais mardi 18 et mercredi 19 mai à la Sala Rossa, 4848 boul St-Laurent à 19H30.

On THURSDAY, MAY 20 we present SUMMERHILL (UK, 2008, 100 minutes), a feature drama film based on the long-standing Summerhill radical free school. From the film synopsis: “Imagine a school where you don't have to go to lessons, you make all the rules yourself and climbing trees and building boats are definitely part of the curriculum. That school exists. It's called Summerhill and it has been there for 70 years. Maddy and Ryan attend Summerhill and find it changes them in ways they would never imagine. But then when inspectors decide the school must close, Maddy and Ryan join forces with staff and pupils in a battle that goes to the very heart of the Government. Based on a true story, Summerhill is an enchanting drama that will captivate everyone.”
Presented by the Rad School of Montreal: At the Rad School, children freely explore their interests, play, learn, live and participate in a democratic community. Afin de mieux connître et de faire connaître l'histoire de luttes anarchistes menées ici même à Montréal, l'Union communiste libertaire (UCL) vous invite à parcourir ensemble un trajet animé qui commemora quelques évenements et endroits qui ont pour nous une significance importante, qui font de nous aujourd'hui des révolutionaires!
Des premiers 1e mai, les anciens librairies, l'université ouvrière, les émeutes de la conscription au passage d'Emma Goldman à Montréal, nous allons marcher ensemble dans un esprit festif dans le quartier des Faubourgs et ses allentours. Sortez vos plus beaux habits noirs et chapeaux!
En cas de pluie, l'évenement sera remis au lendemain, même heure et même lieu.

Anarchist History Walking Tour of Montreal

In the spirit of discovering and exposing local anarchist struggles in Montreal from the past, the Union Communiste Libertaire (UCL) invites you to take part in a guided walking tour which will commemorate some of the important places and events of significance for anarchist movements in our city. It is these places and events which are a part of our tradition, and have led us to be revolutionaries today!
From the first Mayday demonstrations, the old bookshops, the Workers' University, the conscription riots to Emma Goldman's visit to Montreal, we will take you on a festive walking tour of the Faubourg neighorhood and the areas around it. Bring your nicest black clothes and hats!
In case of rain, the event will be postponed until the day after (May 23), same time and place. There will be childcare offered for those who need it.
This event is part of the Festival of Anarchy in Montreal!

Soirée de discussion et débat sur le thème de l'autonomie collective
Publication sur les jardins autogérés
Travaillant depuis plusieurs années à documenter le milieu libertaire au Québec, le Collectif de recherche sur l'autonomie collective (CRAC) vous invite à une soirée de discussion et débat sur le thème de l'autonomie collective prenant place dans le contexte du Festival de l'anarchie. L’évènement est également la soirée du lancement d’une publication sur les jardins autogérés.

Le CRAC partagera les résultats de ses recherches, basées sur des entrevues faites auprès d'activistes s'impliquant dans des groupes diversifiés qui contribuent à la redéfinition des enjeux de leur mouvance. Le collectif travaille en effet à un vaste projet de documentation des expériences autogestionnaires liées à la mouvance libertaire au Québec depuis maintenant 4 ans!
Lors de cette soirée, des membres du CRAC feront une courte presentation des enjeux liés à l’autonomie collective dans la mouvance anti-autoritaire et un membre des Jardins de la résistance viendra partager son experience avant de laisser la place à la discussion et au débat.
Au cours des étés 2007, 2008 et 2009, trois membres du CRAC ont visité à deux jardins autogérés de la région de Montréal : les Jardins de la Résistance et les Jardins de Kanesatake.
Dans l’ouvrage «Une révolution peut commencer par un seul brin de paille», on peut lire le fruit de leurs observations et de leurs discussions avec les militantEs impliquéEs dans ces collectifs. À travers la presentation de leurs objectifs, de leurs principes et bases affinitaires, ainsi que de leurs fonctionnements internes se précisent deux portraits croisés de ces groupes. En bout de ligne, il se dégage certains défis auxquels doivent faire face ces collectifs pour continuer à utiliser le jardinage comme moyen de résistance et comme levier de transformation sociale.

Le Salon du livre anarchiste de Montréal (ainsi que le Festival de l'Anarchie) rassemble les idées et pratiques anarchistes, par les mots, les images, la musique, le théâtre et les luttes quotidiennes pour la justice, la dignité et la libération collective.
Le Salon du livre anarchiste s'adresse aux anarchistes, mais également à celles et ceux qui ne se considèrent pas nécessairement comme anarchistes mais qui ont développé une certaine curiosité vis-à-vis de l'anarchisme. Le Salon est un espace où les anarchistes peuvent se rencontrer et échanger dans un esprit de respect mutuel et de solidarité. Tous et toutes y sont bienvenu-e-s.
Le Salon du livre anarchiste est organisé dans un esprit d'ouverture vis-à-vis des différentes traditions, visions et pratiques de l'anarchisme. Nous cherchons à promouvoir l'anarchisme en mettant en pratique des valeurs comme l'entraide, la démocratie par la base, l'action directe, l'autonomie et la solidarité, et en nous opposant à toutes les formes d'oppression.
Le Salon du livre et le Festival de l’anarchie sont une occasion importante de rassemblement et un point de référence pour les idées et les pratiques anti-autoritaires en Amérique du Nord.

At the Bookfair in 2009, we identified a need for us Anarchist People of Colour (APOC) to know each other, work together, share experiences, and show each other love. Come hang out and share food with us after the Bookfair and before heading out to a Bookfair party. This potluck is open to people who self-identify as Anarchists and People of Colour or Indigenous + our friends/cats.

Trash Palace - "Toronto's Classiest Cinema" - is proud to present THE TRASH ON WHEELS FILM PARTY...on the closing night of the Montreal Anarchist Bookfair!
Hosted by Trash Palace programmer Jonathan Culp, TRASH ON WHEELS brings a full evening of lost, forgotten and undiscovered gems from the celluloid dumpsters of our nation.
Armed with their trusty 16mm film projector and a trunkload of film reels from the 1950s to the 1980s, Canada's most demented film fanatics bring you classroom films, cartoons, commercials, and oddities galore. You never know what's going to happen at a Trash On Wheels Film Party - in fact you get to help decide, with the "Trash On Wheels Applause-O-Meter"!
Psychedelic triangle animation, psychotic hand puppets with firearms, junkies at the sock hop, lost 50s sitcom pilots, drunken teens terrorizing a state park, hymns to the glory of the atom, and hacked-up tributes to 70s television news are just some of the treats on deck for our best road show ever, an avalanche of forgotten masterpieces and hilarious old-school propaganda.
This is no stinkin' film festival - it's THE TRASH ON WHEELS FILM PARTY!
TRASH PALACE, named "the 11th best place to watch a film in Toronto" by BlogTO, shows shorts and features every Friday at their secret location. The Toronto Star writes, "It lives up to its seamy potential...the fun is pure, untainted by cynicism, high expectations or irony."
